The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) wanted to create a dramatic entrance and a comfortable gathering place on the grounds of their Oshkosh facility. Our design and manufacturing team along with the project architect worked to accomplish this goal. The architectural precast concrete pieces that adorn the entrance and grounds, includes two 14 foot tall decorative concrete pedestals. On each pedestal is a concrete replica of a plane’s engine. The housing and propeller brings the weight of each monument to approximately 40,000 pounds. The top half of the monument can be removed from the base to allow the wing spans of the airplanes to pass safely through the entrance. The entire project includes over 200 concrete benches, planters, custom lighted bollards and historical monuments. Also included in the project are donor recognition pavers with messages engraved and epoxy filled for a lasting memorial.
